About the event

Cost $20.00 Length 2 to 2 1/2 hours. A Guided Forest Therapy walk includes slow walking, wandering, and standing or sitting. Plan to dress warmly!

Jeanne Christie, a Registered Maine Guide and Forest Therapy Guide in training will lead a Forest Bathing/Forest Therapy Guided Walk at the park. This activity will take 2-2.5 hours and is a gentle walk interspersed with invitations that encourage participants to activate all their senses to foster an immersive experience with the natural world. Pre-registration is required. The activity is limited to 20 participants.

Please note that a forest therapy guided walk is a really slow walk with lots of stops and some independent wandering, standing or sitting. It will be important to dress very warmly –for example like one might dress for going downhill skiing or snowmobiling or ice fishing.

Forest Therapy Guiding is a practice that is gaining recognition within the U.S. and abroad. There is an increasing body of research identifying a variety of benefits from spending time in nature, especially when all senses are fully engaged. These benefits range from blood pressure and stress levels to increased cognition and creativity.
